How do I save a memory?
Type it in the Capture tab, or say it out loud: on iPhone, "Hey Siri, save to Memorie" works from anywhere, even a locked screen, no app opening required. On Android, tap the "Memorie Capture" widget on your home screen and just start talking. Either way, it saves the moment you finish speaking.
How do I ask Memorie something?
Type your question in the Ask tab, or ask out loud the same way you save: "Hey Siri, ask Memorie" on iPhone, or tap the "Ask Memorie" widget on Android. You can ask follow-up questions right after the first answer without saying the wake phrase again.
I asked by voice and it mentioned photos - how do I actually see them?
A voice answer is spoken, but photos need to be seen. If your question matches a saved photo, just say "show me" or "take me to it" and Memorie opens straight to that result. You'll also get a notification with the same result if you'd rather come back to it later.
Can I save something from another app?
Yes - share a link, address, or text from almost any app (Safari, Maps, Notes, and more) using that app's Share button, and choose Memorie. It saves automatically with no extra taps.
What actually happens to my photos?
In the mobile app, only a thumbnail is uploaded for search and description - the original photo never leaves your device. On iOS, Apple's "Limited Access" photo permission (choosing specific photos instead of allowing all) is fully supported, but Memorie can only search photos you've actually granted it access to - if a photo you're looking for isn't turning up, check your device's Settings to confirm it's been shared.
Why do I need to "index" my photos first?
In the mobile app, indexing is what turns your photo library into something Memorie can actually search and describe - it's a one-time (or whenever you add more) pass where each photo you select gets described and saved as a searchable memory. Nothing happens to a photo until you choose to index it.
Who are the "People" and "Pets" I see in the app?
Memorie automatically notices names mentioned in what you save - "had lunch with Sarah" creates a person you can tap into to see every memory that mentions them. Same for a pet you've named. There's no manual add yet; it's entirely built from what you've already saved.
Can Memorie show me a real phone number or email for someone?
In the mobile app, open a person from the People tab - if their name matches someone in your phone's contacts, Memorie links them automatically and shows their number and email right there, tap to call or email directly. If there's any doubt about the match, you'll be asked to pick the right contact yourself rather than Memorie guessing. Change or Unlink is always available, and you can correct a person's name if it wasn't captured quite right. On iOS, if you chose to share only some contacts (Apple's "Select Contacts" option), Memorie can only find people among those - add more any time from Settings > Privacy & Security > Contacts > Memorie. On iPhone, tapping an email always opens Apple Mail unless you've changed your default Mail app - to use Gmail or another app instead, go to Settings > Mail > Default Mail App and pick it there; this applies system-wide, not just in Memorie.
Does Memorie remind me about birthdays or anniversaries?
In the mobile app, from Settings, tap Calendar and select which of your device's calendars Memorie can read (Google, iCloud, Outlook - whichever are already syncing to your phone). If an upcoming event is a birthday or anniversary for someone linked in People, it shows on the People tab under "Coming up," and if you've saved a past memory about a gift for that person, it's shown alongside ("Last time: got her a scarf"). You'll also get a notification a few days ahead. Nothing is uploaded - events are only ever read on your device, and only calendars you've explicitly selected are used.
Can I add a PDF or other file, not just photos?
In the mobile app, yes - from Settings, tap "Add files" and choose one or more files (PDF, Word .doc/.docx, RTF, .txt, .csv, or Markdown). The real text is extracted directly, not described by AI, so exact numbers, dates, and names come through accurately - a scanned PDF with no real text layer can't be read this way and won't save. Open the resulting memory and tap Share or Download any time to send the original elsewhere or save it to your device.
Can Memorie read my Gmail or Outlook?
In the mobile app, from Settings, tap Email and connect Gmail and/or Outlook (Outlook.com/Hotmail personal accounts) - you can connect more than one account, any mix of both. Choose which Gmail labels (or Outlook folders, like "Receipts" or "Travel") Memorie should scan and how far back (30/90/365 days) - nothing outside what you pick is ever read. Gmail specifically uses a more sensitive kind of Google access that isn't yet fully verified, so Google requires reconnecting roughly every 7 days - if syncing stops, Settings > Email will show "Reconnect," just tap it and sign in again (Outlook doesn't have this requirement). Disconnecting stops access immediately. Added a label/folder after connecting? Pull down on the Email settings screen to refresh the list. Open any email memory and tap "View original email" to see it with its real formatting instead of the plain extracted text - it downloads to your device, then Save to Files and reopen from there (embedded images inside the email body may not come through, since those live on the provider's own servers, not in the email itself).
What's the Today tab / morning briefing?
In the mobile app, from Settings, tap Assistant (available on the Assistant plan) and turn on Morning briefing - pick which day(s) and what time, and Memorie puts together a short summary from your synced calendar events, recent email, and things you've flagged as a task or want, ready on the Today tab and sent as a push notification at your chosen time on Android. On iOS, which can't yet receive that kind of notification (see below), the same content is instead scheduled as a local notification the next time you open the app, so it may be a little behind if the app's been closed a while. Meeting prep works the same way but automatically, with no schedule to set - about two hours before a synced calendar event, Memorie puts together a short heads-up, including anything you've saved about the person you're meeting if they're linked in People. Neither feature reads your calendar events into Browse - they're only ever used as context for these two features, never saved as memories themselves.
What are relationship nudges and weekly review?
In the mobile app, also in Settings > Assistant, both work like Morning briefing (pick a day and time), just weekly instead of daily. Relationship nudges gently point out someone who hasn't come up in your memories in a few weeks, with whatever Memorie remembers about them, so you can decide whether to reach out - it only knows what's been captured in Memorie, not whether you've actually been in touch. Weekly review looks back at the past week - how much you captured and any real highlights - it can only report what was recorded, not whether a task or want is actually finished, since Memorie doesn't track completion. Both show up on the Today tab and follow the same Android push / iOS local-notification split described below.
Why does Memorie's push notification setup differ between Android and iPhone?
Android push works today. iPhone push (real, remote notifications like Morning briefing's) needs Apple's Push Notification service, which this app can't use yet without a paid Apple Developer account - a step planned for closer to launch. Until then, iOS gets the same Assistant content shown right on the Today tab, plus a local notification scheduled whenever you next open the app - not a true push, but no feature is silently missing.
I made a mistake in something I saved - can I fix it?
Yes. Open the memory from Browse or People, and edit the Original capture text directly, or add a Note with extra context. Corrections are saved instantly and reprocessed to keep search accurate.
Is my data private?
Memorie is single-user and private by design - no other person can see your memories, there are no public links, and no way for anyone else to access your account short of looking at your unlocked device. The Share/Download buttons on a document memory just export your own file to another app or your device's storage - that's not the same as sharing your account or memories with anyone else. What's included in each plan?
Free includes 20 questions a day and indexing your first 200 photos, kept forever. Basic ($9/mo) raises that to 50 questions a day and 250 new photos a month. Pro ($18/mo) removes the daily question limit entirely and allows 750 photos a month. Assistant ($29/mo) includes everything Pro does, plus the Assistant features described above (Morning briefing, Meeting prep, relationship nudges, weekly review) and 1,000 photos a month.
